Itinerary: Route Option 1
DAY 0: Dassenhuewel
Dassenhuewel
DAY 1: Dassenheuwel ➝ Hermon (9km)
From Dassenheuwel is a magnificent walk, on a four wheel drive track. At first, a hill to conquer, and then a constant down hill.
You end the day on the banks of the Berg River in Hermon. The peaceful surroundings and beautiful views of the Berg River promise to make your stay an experience to remember
DAY 2: Hermon ➝ Riebeek Kasteel (14km)
Today is 14km through local farms. Either pomegranate or plumbs, depending on the time of year. You arrive in Riebeek Kasteel, a charming town where agriculture meets modern flair. We utilise many rest houses in Riebeek Kasteel. They are all nearby local eateries and galleries.
DAY 3: Riebeek Kasteel ➝ Delico (6km)
The next day is flat farm roads again to Delico Padstal. End your Camino with lunch and coffee and celebrate the start of your walking journey.

Itinerary: Route Option 2
DAY 0: Nuwefontein Farm
Marina van der Westhuizen is your host at their family-owned working farm. They have converted stable blocks into pilgrim accommodation which is semi-private with a shared bathroom.
DAY 1: Nuwefontein Farm ➝ Sandvlei Farm (16km)
The mostly flat gravel route passes through private farms. Isobel Hanekom, your host at Sandvlei provides wonderful rural hospitality in shared pilgrim accommodation.
DAY 2: Sandvlei Farm ➝ Riebeek West (16km)
The next day is flat farm roads into the small town of Riebeek West, where you stay at a local inn and can explore nearby wine farms.
DAY 3: Riebeek West ➝ Delico (13km)
End your Camino with lunch and coffee and celebrate the start of your walking journey.

Is this route suitable if I have never done a multi-day walk before?
Yes, this route is specifically designed for first-time pilgrims. The daily distances are manageable, the terrain is not overly technical, and you will receive a detailed itinerary with clear directions. If you can comfortably walk for several hours at a steady pace, you will be able to complete this route with preparation.
How far do we walk each day?
The daily distances are designed to ease you into multi-day walking. You will walk between approximately 7–14 km per day, depending on the specific itinerary. Exact distances are provided before your departure so that you can prepare properly.
Do I need to be very fit?
You do not need to be extremely fit, but you should be comfortable walking for 3–5 hours in a day. We recommend that you train beforehand by walking regularly, including some longer walks on weekends. Preparation will significantly improve your experience and reduce discomfort.
What happens if I get tired or cannot complete a day?
Your host details are provided in your itinerary and are you emergency contacts. However, pilgrims are responsible for their own physical readiness and decision-making on the route. We strongly encourage proper training beforehand to minimise this risk.
