Route 4 of Cape Camino follows the Wild West Coast of the Western Cape, offering a 3–5 day coastal pilgrimage from Elands Bay to the Berg River mouth at Velddrift. This multi-day walking route is shaped by ocean tides, long beach stretches and dune crossings, with daily distances ranging from approximately 11km to 23km. Walkers move along remote shoreline paths, fishing settlements and coastal farmland, experiencing uninterrupted sea views, marine birdlife and seasonal sightings of whales, dolphins and seals.
The Wild West Coast Camino is physically more demanding due to extended beach walking on sand, requiring a good level of walking fitness and careful attention to tidal times. Accommodation is provided by small guest farms and local hosts along the route, creating a supported coastal walking experience. Route 4 is ideal for pilgrims seeking ocean air, elemental landscapes and a raw, open-horizon journey along one of South Africa’s most unspoilt coastlines. It can be booked as a standalone route or combined with other Cape Camino sections as part of a longer Western Cape pilgrimage.
All cancellations are subject to a 5% administration fee, regardless of notice period. This fee covers planning, coordination, and administrative work already undertaken.
60 days or more prior to departure: 95% refund (5% admin fee retained)
Between 60 and 30 days prior: 90% refund
Between 30 and 14 days prior: 30% refund
14 days or less prior to departure: No refund
Please note: Peninsula route accommodation requires full upfront payment to secure bookings. For these routes, the standard refund policy may not apply and refunds are subject to host terms.

Between 60 and 14 days prior: 10% rescheduling fee
14 days or less prior to departure: No rescheduling and no refund
Rescheduling is permitted within the same calendar year, subject to availability.

A 50% deposit payment is available when you choose the EFT (bank transfer) option at checkout. This will secure your dates. The balance is due 30 days before your Camino begins.
