Get Walking

Cape Camino is an urban walk (not a trail hike) and is a platform to showcase the Cape Peninsula. The Cape Peninsula, in this pilgrimage, enhances the journey by providing a beautiful, natural environment which is rich in sacred spaces, historical monuments, natural wonders and diverse and talented people. This includes people in small businesses which, as a walking route for local and foreign pilgrims, Cape Camino aims to provide immeasurable benefits for, bringing wealth and productivity to the region. Get walking.

The Cape Camino route has been identified by our team, but in no means is it owned by us. Therefore, your Camino is your Camino and you are responsible for your own experiences. Below are three ways you can walk your Cape Camino. Walk Your Way…

Create Your Own Camino

The first is for the more adventurous type. You plan, book and navigate your own Camino, using only your passport, Slingsby Map and the information provided on our website under our route.

Cape Camino Passport

South Peninsula, Cape Town, South Africa

Once you have signed up and purchased your passport we will send you a thank you email and a ‘how to information’ sheet. You then need to collect your printed passport and Slingsby Map from us somewhere along the route. Wherever best suits you! View the Service Providers listed on the route page and book the providers you will be using in order to get your discounts. Join our Facebook Group and find other pilgrims to walk with. Decide on a date and start your walk. Walk Your Way!

Not all pilgrims are comfortable planning, arranging and booking their own Cape Camino experience. Plus, a huge part about walking a Camino is meeting other pilgrims. It can take many months of planning to arrange your own group, so rather Walk Your Way… with other like-minded pilgrims.

The next Group Camino will be in March 2018 (From Friday 2 March – Thursday 8 March 2018). Book your spot 21 days before.

What to expect from a Group Camino?

  • A seven day walking experience both guided and self guided.
  • Between 15-22 other pilgrims.
  • A range of accommodation. Backpacker and guesthouse sharing.
  • An opportunity to cook and eat together.
  • Your own time and walking pace. No one is going to rush you. This is your Camino.

Group Camino: 2 March – 8 March 2018

From R5,855.00 per person sharing

A seven day Camino set around the Cape peninsula. The route is a sacred route, which sets it apart from a hiking trail, and it is hosted by our diverse sacred sites found in South Africa.

StreetSmart SA

StreetSmart SA and Cape Camino invite you to join us on our annual Camino in November each year, for a personal journey of connection and celebration.

We will walk for two days along the Cape Camino route, in an effort to support StreetSmart SA – A community initiative that raises funds for programmes that help normalise the lives of street and other at-risk children, thanks to contributions from restaurants.
